Rescue
diver & EFR first aid
Rescue Diver
You've
completed entry-level and
advanced training and been
logging a few dives in the
process. During the PADI Rescue
course you will learn how
to foresee, prevent, and manage
potential diving accidents.
This is done firstly through
knowledge development in all
areas of emergency management,
prevention and preparation.
Then through a number of Open
Water scenarios ranging from
tired diver on the surface
to unconscious diver underwater.
Finally this learning is put
into practice through two
full emergency scenarios incorporating
all of the skills and knowledge
that you have learnt throughout
the course.
What Does The Course
Involve?
The Rescue course comprises
of:
Academic Sessions
These include videos, lectures
and study of the knowledge
reviews from the manual. The
sessions are held in our comfortable classroom and last around
6 hours. Subjects covered
include : Self rescue and
diver stress, Emergency management,
First Aid & Equipment
considerations.
Open Water Scenarios
These are designed to breakdown
any accident or emergency
into its components so each
can be practised and dealt
with. Scenarios include :
Tired Diver, Panicked Diver,
Response from shore/boat to
conscious victim, Distressed
diver underwater, Missing
diver, Surfacing the unconscious
diver, Unconscious diver at
the surface, Egress with an
unconscious diver, First aid
for pressure related accidents,
Response from shore/boat to
conscious victim.
Final Scenarios
These
are completed at the end of
all of the course and are
a way for you to bring all
that you have learnt together
and for your instructor to
assess your performance. These
are intended to provide you
with a realistic application
of the skills and knowledge
presented throughout the course.
The scenarios are :
Underwater search & response,
egress, and management.
How Long Will It
Take?
The rescue is usually run
over 5 evenings and 1 day of a weekend,
but can be self scheduled
to suit your diary.
Who Can Do It?
Anyone who has an entry level
and Advanced qualification
in diving with a minimum of
fifteen logged dives . Those
who are between the age of
twelve and fifteen will be
awarded the JUNIOR RESCUE
certification and must therefore
be buddied by an adult until
they are sixteen. A current
CPR qualification is also
required and the PADI Emergency
First Response is ideal for
this.
Emergency First Response
EFR gives you the tools you
need to perform CPR and First
Aid. Whether you’re
a diver or a non-diver, EFR
prepares you to properly handle
potentially life-threatening
situations.. There is no minimum
certification or age limit
to begin the course.
What Does The Course
Involve?
This comprehensive programme
is composed of two core modules
(primary care and secondary
care) that can be taught in
tandem or as stand alone courses.
Together, these courses provide
extensive instruction in CPR
and first aid as well as providing
optional Automated external
defibrillation and emergency
oxygen use.
How Long Will It
Take?
Depending on the amount of
home study, the primary and
secondary care courses can
be completed in as little
as four hours
