What is it?

The PADI openwater course is the most popular entry level diving qualification in the world and upon completion allows a qualified openwater diver to dive with anybody with the same or higher qualification to a maximum of 18 metres.  With PADI being the biggest Diver training organisation in the world you can be sure that wherever in the world you go you are sure to be near a PADI divecentre that can furnish you with PADI sanctioned training and a wide variety of diving.

Who Can Do It?

Anyone aged from 10 years of age and in good health can start the course. Those who are between the age of ten and fifteen will be awarded the JUNIOR OPEN WATER DIVER certification and must therefore be buddied by an adult until they are sixteen.

What Does The Course Involve?

Academic Sessions and Pool sessions

The Openwater Diver course is split into 2 sections the first being pool sessions where you are introduced to the basic skills and safety required to dive safely.  The pool sessions are divided into 5 modules with academic portions associated with each pool session.  The academic sessions deal with the concepts involved in diving safely and also techniques involved and covering the skills that will be practised in the pool.

 Openwater Dives

On completion of the pool and academic sessions you will then do your 4 openwater dives, where you will put into practise the skills you learned in the pool and interact with the local wildlife associated with that particular divesite. After completing the 4 openwater dives you will sit a final exam with questions taken from your manual and on passing you will be awarded the coveted Openwater Diver Qualification.

How Long will it take?

The course can be completed as quickly as you like, but usually over 5-7 weeks,  1 night per week for academic and pool sessions for 5 weeks and 2 dives per day over 2 weekends.

What do you need?

All dive equipment for the course is included in the cost of the course as are all academic materials and transport to and from the pool and dive site.   All you need to take with you are a swimming costume and a towel.

Where do we train?

We use Farringdon school pool on a Tuesday and Thursday evening from 19.30-20.45 and the academic sessions are done at the dive centre from 18.00-19.00

What is the cost?

The cost of the Openwater Diver course is £199 and includes all academic materials, air fills, equipment and also transport to and from the pool and the Openwater Dive sites.

How Do I Book A Course?

This can be done by either calling in or simply ringing up and quoting your credit card number (we can then post your materials to you).
